I'm Erin Jo. I'm thinking, writing, dreaming, mothering, loving, living, praising, BLESSED to be Fiona to my Shrek and Mommy to my four amazing kiddos.

Shrek is "like an onion with many layers" but has a heart of gold. He's my husband and my friend, and we just get better all the time.

lily

lily

Lily is my first baby and only girl. She's smart, funny, tall and kind. Keeping up with this girl is a challenge and a joy. She's terrific!

max

Max is one part ogre, two parts lover and all boy! Our little man has a temper but gives the best hugs of anyone I know!

colby

colby

Colby is as ornery as he looks. He flirts shamelessly, even with strangers. He's all mouth and curls and the loudest by far.

Luke is the baby of the family, but holds his own. He's happy and adorable. And he's a terrible sleeper. =)

Sunday Night Clean

Daddy and Max got some quality time in yesterday...

It’s that time of year. We spent most of the afternoon at the lake. I came home with four muddy kiddos, one of them in their underwear, and more than a load of laundry. Within an hour, I found a tick. Some pink cheeks and noses. Yep. It’s summer. (Practically!)

I am bone tired. A full day. Church, grocery shopping, lunch out, Lake Tweet. Dishes again. Did you know I have no dishwasher? The dishwasher is me. And there are so many clothes in every stage of laundry. And it’s Sunday. So that means, we’re not starting with a fresh slate. Nope. This week will be another zinger, just like every other one.

But after struggle, tears, assorted snacks, drinks, and piecemeal dinners, the kids are now all snug in their beds. And at least they are Sunday night clean. The grime, the sunscreen, the sticky… it’s all down the drain. They are cozily clean in their beds with fresh pjs.

But I sit up, watching the CMAs and wishing my wine in the fridge would uncork itself, pour itself into a goblet and find me here in my spot. Because now that I finally sat down, it’s so hard to imagine getting up. Oh, but I will. I still have some things that must get done. Oh,  and of course, I’ve got to reach that happy, cozy, exhausted state of Sunday night clean.

Here’s to undefeated laundry, to the acquaintance at Wal-Mart who reminded Dave and me that these are the best days of our lives, to happy exhaustion. Here’s to Sunday night clean and the wild path that we sometimes take to get here.

Great first day at the lake together. Ava would be happy with the garden. The friend at Walmart was right, these are he best days of your life, even though they are crazy busy ones with four kids!

These are the best days of your life… until the next stage, and then the next. I loved my kids being little, got excieted when they became teens, overwhelmed when they went off to college, thrilled when they realized they were becoming adults and now, totally content that they are a welcoming part of society. Love being an aunt, grandma and myself. These are the best days… as each one that follows will become the best yet. Love your blogs Erin.

Very grateful to have this wonderful family to dirty the laundry and the house. I’m trying to savor every morsel as it slips through my hands. We must make a date to get dirty at Lake Tweet!
