I'm Erin Jo. I'm thinking, writing, dreaming, mothering, loving, living, praising, BLESSED to be Fiona to my Shrek and Mommy to my four amazing kiddos.

Shrek is "like an onion with many layers" but has a heart of gold. He's my husband and my friend, and we just get better all the time.

lily

lily

Lily is my first baby and only girl. She's smart, funny, tall and kind. Keeping up with this girl is a challenge and a joy. She's terrific!

max

max

Max is one part ogre, two parts lover and all boy! Our little man has a temper but gives the best hugs of anyone I know!

colby

colby

Colby is as ornery as he looks. He flirts shamelessly, even with strangers. He's all mouth and curls and the loudest by far.

luke

luke

Luke is the baby of the family, but holds his own. He's happy and adorable. And he's a terrible sleeper. =)

Finding His Voice

Say "cheese!"

Luke is on to us. He now knows all about getting his picture taken. Anytime we whip out a camera, real or fake, he freezes his expression into this cheesy little grin. This means two things: 1) Luke is very smart to have figured out the camera thing in light of the limited time he has actually been in front of a lens due to his fourth-child status, and 2) This little cheesy grin is going to be on full display this weekend as this little guy makes his ring bearer debut at the tender age of 16 months. (Wait ’til you see his outfit!)

This kid is something else. His favorite words are already “No!” and “Mine!” I guess you have to be tough with all these big siblings. All of them and others have found Luke’s trick. No matter what you ask him, his quick and guttural response is “No!” It’s fun to think of things to ask him. Cousin Jud’s favorite: “Lukie, are you wearing a tutu?”… “NO!”

I love him for a million reasons and in a million ways. He makes my mom laugh deep belly laughs that often end in more. I love watching her soak up this baby–maybe her last grandbaby….

All of the kids are doing well. Summer is blooming at our place, and all is well.

Momma’s tired, though, and needs her beauty sleep. So more thoughtful writing will just have to wait.

Are you tired?

“No!”

  1. You are so right! Lukie makes me laugh! He is such a little spitfire that I can’t help it. I so enjoy all my grandchildren and so grateful to have them in my life.

your kids are all amazing, and I am totally in awe of how grown they are getting. This is the most beautiful picture of Luke! Love the hair, but those eyes are dangerous!!!! Happy day to you all and to you a most beautiful weekend with friends and family. I’m off to work, but counting the days till we head to Ohio. July 4th for Andrea and the boys, but maybe July 1 or 2nd for me and arthur. So, we will see you for sure in July. Keep writing, keep smiling. Love to you all.

Luke is a special litttle guy. He has a spirit all his own. What a little ham. Love him to pieces. When you know it’s your last, everything becomes even more precious!

I miss those cute toddler years so much!

Love this! It is so true about the 4th child. Caleb has got to be the most paranoid, defensive little guy. He must be on his A-game with all of these ornery big brothers. This blog really made me smile. Soak it up! Can’t wait to see pics from the wedding! Have a great time. Love ya!

Jess, must be the fourth kid thing. I can’t wait to get our 8 children together. Love you too. Have fun ziplining!!!

Haha…Love that ornrey kid! We should all remember Luke when we need that extra little bit of help to stand up for ourselves or when we start to do that annoying chore instead of leaving it or asking the hubby. I think of you and all your sweet adorable kids daily, but next time I don’t want to take out the trash I’m thinking of Lukie… NO!

    • erinjo says:

Good idea, Roberta. I know Matt won’t be able to fight with that. Sometimes, maybe all the time, the answer is “No!” Love ya.
