I'm Erin Jo. I'm thinking, writing, dreaming, mothering, loving, living, praising, BLESSED to be Fiona to my Shrek and Mommy to my four amazing kiddos.

dave

dave

Shrek is "like an onion with many layers" but has a heart of gold. He's my husband and my friend, and we just get better all the time.

lily

lily

Lily is my first baby and only girl. She's smart, funny, tall and kind. Keeping up with this girl is a challenge and a joy. She's terrific!

max

max

Max is one part ogre, two parts lover and all boy! Our little man has a temper but gives the best hugs of anyone I know!

colby

colby

Colby is as ornery as he looks. He flirts shamelessly, even with strangers. He's all mouth and curls and the loudest by far.

luke

luke

Luke is the baby of the family, but holds his own. He's happy and adorable. And he's a terrible sleeper. =)

Vacation Eve

You can’t ride on my little red wagon…

Ah, Vacation Eve. It is finally here. Tomorrow we take off in the new ride to travel half of our five hundred miles to enjoy a day with family. Another half of the journey on Saturday will bring my children’s first looks at the ocean.

I thought I might blog from the beach, but I am quite zapped. So I’m thinking I am going to do this vacation thing the right way. My journal should suffice, should I feel that twitch in my fingers and my brain and my heart to write. I’m turning off my work email. Hell, maybe all of my email. I am totally serious about needing a vacation. And they so rarely materialize.

So I think I’m ready. Shrek will really have to mastermind this pack job, but I think it’s about time I pass the torch. I make sure we have everything we need; he makes sure it fits. Good enough.

Please, my dear children, let your mommy and daddy chill a little bit. Don’t throw sand in your brother’s eyes. Don’t run off and give me a heart attack. Wait patiently for your “choc-wit melk.” And love one another.

Do this for me. Let’s put memories in the jar of our lives together. Let us celebrate and rejoice in this moment in time. Let us rest, and be blessed, and have fun!

Have a great time and tell the NC people “hi” for me! There probably will be some sand in the eyes and split seconds of panic, but it’s all part of the experience, right? 🙂 There will be so many more moments of sheer joy and fun and clear eyes. The kids will be talking about this trip for a long time. Godspeed!

Oh Erin, just to see their faces when they jump out of the van and they rush to get their first look at that “big water” as Dyl called it last year! I’ve been there, and it’s priceless!!! I hope your beach vaca is just as wonderful as ours was last year. Relax, no alarm clocks, do as you please…..make memories!!! Hope you have a wonderful time!!! Oh, and if Dave needs a hand at that packing, let me know, lol…I think I’ve mastered beach packing….believe me, I can pack more in a van than most would think…remember if you can, stuff it under the seats too!!! lol

Woot!!! I’m so excited for you guys. I know you will take lots of pictures. I can’t wait to see them! 🙂 Relax, make sand castles, pick up shells, read and snooze while listening to the crashing waves. And if you hae to write, maybe write all the one liners I’m sure your kids will have as they experience this new adventure. Have a super relaxing time!!! Careful with those crazy tides please! Love you guys!

ahhh…… remember to sleep with the window slightly opened; nothin like a surf lullaby. Have a blessed, beautiful time, Erin! Memories are guaranteed, but I know you’ll snap lots of pictures to be sure. Enjoy!

we are ready to get this part of the trip underway. The boys actually are going to be leaving Cherry Grove just about the time you plan on leaving Waterford. They are super excieted that they are going to have COUSINS here to be at their night pool party(hope the rains hold off for us).

Pictures are a must, but don’t let them stop you from the fun. I’m sure you will enjoy each moment, and I believe the kids will be far better than you may think. They will be in awe of the new surroundings and actually, I don’t think Cherry Grove is all that crowded at this time of year. Many schools down here have already started back up.

First time I saw the ocean I was a teen ager. Last time was 2 yrs ago… I am ready for a weekend trip myself, hoping one comes soon!!

I will see you all, probably before you even read this reply!!!

Be safe, be happy and stay calm. Godspeed EJ and family, see you soon!!!

Can’t wait my friend! I am ready to set the “reset” and “reprogram” button. I can’t think of a better way to do that then to play and relax at the beach. We are so blessed to be sharing this vacation with you and your family. We will see you soon! Drive safely!
