I'm Erin Jo. I'm thinking, writing, dreaming, mothering, loving, living, praising, BLESSED to be Fiona to my Shrek and Mommy to my four amazing kiddos.

dave

dave

Shrek is "like an onion with many layers" but has a heart of gold. He's my husband and my friend, and we just get better all the time.

lily

lily

Lily is my first baby and only girl. She's smart, funny, tall and kind. Keeping up with this girl is a challenge and a joy. She's terrific!

max

max

Max is one part ogre, two parts lover and all boy! Our little man has a temper but gives the best hugs of anyone I know!

colby

colby

Colby is as ornery as he looks. He flirts shamelessly, even with strangers. He's all mouth and curls and the loudest by far.

luke

luke

Luke is the baby of the family, but holds his own. He's happy and adorable. And he's a terrible sleeper. =)

Never Bored, Always Blessed

This is the hopeful pile I carry around the house with me. My new favorite magazine, my new journal (number 74, I kid you not,) and my Kindle. I am somewhat amazed but not really surprised that even after nearly three months of this quarantine-style living, I have not run out of things to do. […]

A New {Old} Perspective

I just spent some time reading old journals, first from Colby’s infancy and then even older ones from my college days, my early days with the man I now call my husband. And while there was strife, I closed those notebooks with a giddy happiness. We made it. And I wish I could tell that […]

My Lucky Day

We have a kids’ book we just love in this house. It’s called “My Lucky Day” by Keiko Kasza. It’s a funny, well-written and beautifully illustrated book about the triumph of an underdog: a pig who tricks a fox who wants to eat him into giving him a warm, sudsy bath, a home-cooked meal complete […]

Forward

There is so much to write about, but for now, I think I’ll write about how I was a part of history today when I got to see President Barack Obama speak at Ohio University, my alma mater and employer. Obama was the eleventh sitting president to visit campus and the first since Lyndon B. […]

Growing Pains

We’re getting a bit tight in this house. But, compared to some, we’re doing just fine. Alas, it was time to switch up some bedrooms, and possibly buy some more time in this house in the process. Miss Lil now has a room of her own. And the three boys are together in the bigger […]

Keeping My Head Above Water

I’ve been really overwhelmed by my motherhood lately. Mothering four kiddos is serious work. I mentioned all the sickness a couple of days ago. Now… hives. Why hives on two of four children? Why a weird, stubborn diaper rash on another? I have no clue. I was commiserating with some of my work buddies about […]

Beg, Steal or Borrow

Let’s see. Where to start? Busy weekend, a two-year-old with a stomach virus, a ninth anniversary… I won’t go into detail about my weekend, but it was crazy, hectic, fun and stressful. I relied often on the kindness of others, particularly in deference to my children. I got to see a ton of great friends, […]

Everyday Magic

Last week was rough. Really rough. The four walls of my house were exerting such internal pressure that I nearly lost my mind. The weather was terrible. The kids were kids. It was maddening. And, somehow, we made it through. My Lily is so smart and active. She constantly needs an ear, a project, a […]
