I'm Erin Jo. I'm thinking, writing, dreaming, mothering, loving, living, praising, BLESSED to be Fiona to my Shrek and Mommy to my four amazing kiddos.

Shrek is "like an onion with many layers" but has a heart of gold. He's my husband and my friend, and we just get better all the time.

lily

lily

Lily is my first baby and only girl. She's smart, funny, tall and kind. Keeping up with this girl is a challenge and a joy. She's terrific!

max

max

Max is one part ogre, two parts lover and all boy! Our little man has a temper but gives the best hugs of anyone I know!

colby

colby

Colby is as ornery as he looks. He flirts shamelessly, even with strangers. He's all mouth and curls and the loudest by far.

luke

luke

Luke is the baby of the family, but holds his own. He's happy and adorable. And he's a terrible sleeper. =)

A New {Old} Perspective

I just spent some time reading old journals, first from Colby’s infancy and then even older ones from my college days, my early days with the man I now call my husband. And while there was strife, I closed those notebooks with a giddy happiness. We made it. And I wish I could tell that […]

A Christmas Message

I started this post on the eve of Christmas Eve, while wrapping, baking cookies and trying to find that one missing present that just had to be here somewhere. I felt peaceful and less busy than I had been and hopeful for the holiday. Friday’s snow was just the thing I needed. It was the […]

My Lucky Day

We have a kids’ book we just love in this house. It’s called “My Lucky Day” by Keiko Kasza. It’s a funny, well-written and beautifully illustrated book about the triumph of an underdog: a pig who tricks a fox who wants to eat him into giving him a warm, sudsy bath, a home-cooked meal complete […]

Goodness

We’re a busy bunch around here lately. The kids are learning to pick up some of my slack. Lily and Max are little parents. They corral each other and their little brothers. They pour Froot Loops and run Netflix in the early mornings. They know that it takes all of us working together to make […]

52 1/2 Months…

Luke and I, around this time last year… Fifty-two and a half months. Yep.  That’s how long I’ve nursed babies, altogether. I’ve been selfless, enamored, annoyed, exhausted, mesmerized and content. It’s been an amazing experience, to watch my babies grow on my milk alone, to see them calm down in a nanosecond, to be the […]

Inspiration

I feel as if I am enjoying a new lease on life tonight. I have traveled a valley of darkness in a sector of my life over the past few days, but today, I emerge. I am inspired to continue doing my best, being true to myself, being interested and interesting and believing, as always, […]

Icing on the Cake

Not sure why, but this phrase has been coming to mind a lot lately. It could be that I have cake on the mind–specifically, leftover Frances Tornes cake from Luke’s birthday bash. This is available only here in my small town, and I tell all who do not have ready access to this woman’s magical […]

Winter Cozy

I am pleased to report that, five days into January, I have read two books. Amazing! I am an avid reader, but I try to forget that about myself most of the time. Reading is an addictive hobby. I am sucked into whole other worlds, and it becomes hard to manage my own reality. As […]

Thirty Notes of Thanksgiving

Luke would like to thank his big brother for sharing his lollipop…. I love thank-you notes. I like getting them well enough, but mostly, I like giving them. So it was not a completely selfless idea for me to do a project I’m calling Thirty Notes of Thanksgiving. The idea bloomed in my brain earlier […]

AWOL

Well, I have a ton of things I’d like to write about, and I promised myself I’d blog tonight. First, I went AWOL for a bit. Now that I’m ready to write, sadly, my laptop is AWOL. (I’m posting from Shrek’s unfamiliar machine.) I’ve also just finished a really wonderful novel, so I’m kind of […]
